WE ARE in the business of making exciting bikes affordable again
Bikeshelfone has one mission in mind – to increase access to affordable bikes for people around New Zealand needing bikes for sport, recreation or commuting.
When you buy from us you don't have to worry about the logistics, or trying to persuade a reluctant seller to take their old bike to a shop and arrange a courier, often costing up to $150. And run the risk of a private seller sending a damaged bike, or worse no bike at all.
Founder Dave a regular cyclist realised that the cost of cycling was sky rocketing, and that supply of good quality trust worthy steeds was constrained due to Covid19. And was unlikely to go back to normal when lockdowns ended and global supply disruptions dissipated. So he set up BikeShelfOne as a business, so people had a trust worthy source that can reliably and cheaply ship bikes across New Zealand to your door.
Electric bikes are getting older people back on bikes in large numbers (for a princely sum), and people who haven’t ridden for years are now enjoying recreational cycling opportunities again by riding E-MTB's.
BikeShelfOne has grown to rapidly and is based in Taupo, shipping daily to every major region in New Zealand.

BIO - CHIEF BIKE FANATIC - dave
Meet Dave, just a normal bloke; self admitted weekend warrior. Goes by the moniker Chief Bike Mechanic, but looking closely we see this guy is actually a well rounded athlete. Is a regular in the local cycling and tri club, and has done many of NZ great cycling events and Trialthons.
Dave does 10,000kms a year on the bike pretty consistently. He has been biking since he was a nipper (apparently first bike was an old girls one with solid tyres that only lasted a week); although his formative years were spent playing soccer and running Marathons but he some how morphed into a cardio bunny in his late thirties.
However only after passing 40 years of age did he find success in Trialthon and in the cycle clubs. And was the local Taupo TriSport Club champ in 2019, and often a contender in B Grade. But his main strength is not in riding, but as a professional buyer and he has become the cycling quartermaster to many a enthusiastic cyclist, who either needs some suggestion on how to kit up, or have lost interest with main stream bike shops due to the absorbitant & ever rising cost of maintaining and equipping the bike for races or training rides. He has completed the K2 in the Coromandel, Tour De Ranges Auckland, Rotorua to Taupō 100km Flyer, Cambridge Gran Fondo, Local road champs, Cycling NZ Age Group Nationals, Taupō Cycle Challenge, 70.3/ Ironman Taupō & the Auckland Marathon. Many other 40-55 year olds also aspire to ride these events and need a good modern and reliable road bike or TT bike that doesn't need to cost the earth. When asked why he founded BSO even though he is a successful Consultant in his own right with Masters in both Technical Materials and Business (MBA). He says "people needed an affordable place to go for a bike, and to keep their current bike running, as well as adding upgrades such as carbon wheels. Since the pandemic ended the prices are still too high for alot of people, we have always priced without the Covid price premiums, even in the silly times of 2021-2022!"
His Mentor Guy Howard-Willis co-founder of Torpedo7 always said there was a gap for a value based bike supplier in New Zealand, since his son sold Tordepo7 to 'The Red Sheds'. Sadly the high street shops can suffer from a lack of customer focus, and are now akind to a trip to the dentist. 'Us' cycling shops need to put our customers needs first and sit them on the right bikes, rather than a selling them the expensive bikes we want them to buy. Its hard to believe but many shops don't stock road bikes anymore (due to falling demand). So there is room again for a low cost online supplier of bikes and cycling equipment. BikeShelfOne wants to plug all these gaps (including affordable E-Bikes), and supply a loyal army of Bike Shelfers directly with all their cycling needs, parts and accessories, so that more and more people join this social sport and improve their quality of life. And we offer free opinion/ advice online, a range of BSO branded clothing and a low cost bike fitting service.
